Very silly.

Well...The first 15 minutes were great with a few equally great moments thrown in throughout the movie "Nuns are God's Fag Hags' is pretty much the best line I've heard from a movie like this in awhile. The ending was stupid. Like, really stupid. Not fucking Eternal Sunshine ending stupid. Even more stupid than that and let's not kid ourselves, that movie was fucking stupid. Also, not a 'Horror' film. Horrible maybe. See what I did there? Har.

Actually a great film in its own right. The dialogue, and especially the acting, are of the highest caliber given the strangeness of the content. Recommendable for going where films should (but to play it safe, don't) go, and therefore the audaciousness of it all. The second act slows the rest down, unfortunately.

extremely anticlimactic

Mostly unbareable story.

Tried to be a poor man's Memento, ended up being 'another movie with Ryan Reynolds.' Not too bad, not too good, and definitely not a horror (I'm looking at you, Criticker).

I went in to this film knowing absolutely nothing about it. I just happened upon it on Netflix and this was probably the best way to watch this film - with no perspective at all. The Nines is a very ambitious film and I give John August a lot of respect for his execution. Some awesome themes that are right down my alley of interest and some great acting across the board. I would say the first act was the strongest with some crazy creepy horror elements.

Starts out as a decent movie and then descends into an endless bore-fest. Nice concept though.

Terrible. It was awful while I was watching, and has gotten worse the more I've thought about it. I swear they were making it up as it went along; things that happen early on completely contradict the "twist" which happens later. And I cannot for the life of me understand the love for Melissa McCarthy, who has got to be one of the most irritating people alive.

Ambitious in both structure and subject matter, and the three central performances are all good. Felt a bit like a film written by Charlie Kaufman, if he'd been a screenwriter on "Lost". The ending was something of a cop out but I don't think this challenging film deserves the loathing heaped upon it.

I will give Reynolds credit , he does not stick to his meal ticket and makes an honest attempt to branch out. Although the results are mixed, it is definitely watchable.

Wow. NOt what i was expecting at all. something definitely resonated with me from this film and i was pleasantly surprised with Reynold's acting ability and just charm on screen. I loved the atypical casting of Melissa Mccarthy as the love interest ( she was also pretty great) and while the plot had some holes it definitely opened up some interesting theories and was pretty heart warming ... i've rewatched it twice and just like it more and more.. probably his best acting to date next to Buried

the only thing I would change is how the end looked but other than that I really couldn't think of anything to make it better. I loved almost everything about it. "I've always had this fascination with nuns they are kind of like gods fag hags" HAHA!

I really liked this movie. I'm a Ryan Reynolds fan anyway, but something about this movie touched me, no not sexually.

I think this one was fun, intimate and not so much pretentious. And Melissa McCarty is pure love.

At its best, The Nines is a wonderfully involving mind-fuck of a movie, reminiscent of a more distant, emotion-light Donnie Darko. At its worst, it's convoluted, unsure of its tone and being just weird-for-the-sake-of-weird (the musical bit, anybody?). But even then, it's hard not to respect what writer/director John August was trying to do. It may be pretentious or nonsensical in places, but it's brilliantly messed up in others. You'll never look at a koala bear the same way again. Recommended.

why did i spend my time on this kind of crap!?!

This film sets itself up in such a way that you expect an enourmous "wow" moment in the end, however the attempt at being subtle throughout the movie in many ways makes it too obvious and the big twist becomes nothing but an anticlimactic ending.
