Pleasantly (maybe not the right word, here) surprised by this one. The first three tales moved right along, riding that fine line between uncomfortable and disgust, but the fourth episode completely dropped the ball for me. Also the tacked on, "shocking" ending was anything but.

I haven't seen many horror anthologies, but this is by far the worst of the ones I've seen. Most of the stories were just plain dumb and and its effort to incorporate necrophilia, cannibalism, and gore as a ploy to make it better didn't work.

I liked the second and third stories okay. The first was a little predictable and had the most disgusting frozen dinner I've ever seen. The last story felt like a rip-off of another movie. While it was amusing to hear him speak with a southern accent, It felt like a waste to merely have Vincent Price in the frame story. The outcome of the frame story has no dramatic buildup, so it just feels tack-ed on to be "shocking". Overall, ok, but could have been a lot better.

This is a slow-moving fear anthology that muffs more opportunities than it exploits. However, any film dealing with such eternal topics as necrophilia, glass eating, and torture of every insidious stripe would have a hard time being *completely* lame, and this occasionally succeeds in creating an honestly creepy atmosphere. Best here are the first story and the Lovecraft's Traveling Circus episode.

Semi-decent horror anthology. As usual, some of it works rather well in that patented predictable and sadistic way that these pieces usually do, and some of it is just ruddy awful. A lot better than many of the more acclaimed films in the same mold, though.

In all likelihood, the finest horror anthology ever produced. Once-in-a-lifetime cast of B-movie thespians, plus this is one of the few productions that exemplifies one of the commandments that most horror films ought to follow: "DARE TO BE SICK"
