Extremely good at being creepy, but ironically enough the thing that contributes most to that, the score, is also what consistently lets it down in the biggest scenes. The score goes so frantic at every key plot point that it takes you out of the moment and makes you aware of how absurd the whole film is.

Slowly but surely word gets round that 'hey, this little brat must die'.Not so fast though as it's easily said than done killing the spawn of satan.Like a good little boy he passes the buck and gets others to do the dirty work leaving him to play without fuss as the body count piles up.Highlights of the film is the decapitation scene and watching the 2nd doctor not get back into the TARDIS in time to avoid the spear.Peck couldn't kill a mockingbird,what chance did he have killing Damian.

The definite Godfather of the 'Final Destination' franchise, the insistence of keeping the horror to 'circumstantial' events works to it's advantage. It's dated, that much is for sure, but there are some pretty groovy shots in there. And there's something cool about the 70s editing - be it images or sound. Also, casting the epitome of decency, Peck, is a master stroke, although this is far from his best performance. But enough out of me. It's a classic, dammit man! Watch it!

Watched this when I was a wee tiny lad and probably shat my pants repeatedly.

Creepy.

Probably about as good as a thriller about a budding Antichrist could be. Pretty creepy, and only occasionally laughable. Billy Whitelaw is excellent in a small role.

A classic horror movie. Excellent, gentle, direction allows the horror to expand gradually into the film. Once seen, you are unlikely to forget that "It's all for you, Damien".

The best of the post-Exorcist devil movies, this is also the first and best of its own series. High on atmosphere, with a classy cast and an Oscar-winning score by Jerry Goldsmith.
