Not the marvel that I was hoping for, but still a solid fun film with good fights and an interesting story. Could use a little trimming for time but never goes to long without some action.

A little on the long&cheesy side, but the visuals and the ridiculous plot keep it afloat.

Historically important in the kungfu genre, some nice sets and a good look, but sort of talky, and the fights scenes are nothing compared to later Shaw brothers work.

Fantastic! Jimmy Wang Yu is wonderful to watch in this and the effects all look great for their time. The supporting characters are all entertaining and well-played. I really like this film.

I'm flustered that Chang Cheh had the audacity to bloat this film into two hours with overlong exposition and tacky melodrama. If the film had gotten rid of this excess baggage and tuned in to more martial arts (which was disappointingly clunky) and more bodies in motion, it would have been fairly decent.
