Excellent script, directing and acting. Eastwood is too cool. He was also way ahead of his time, telling PETA to fuck off even before they existed. An underrated western, should be more well known.

This film is the equivalent of Douglas Adam's Pan Galactic Gargle blaster - "like being hit round the head by a gold bar wrapped in a slice of lemon". Just when you thought it was a shoot 'em up western (it is in parts) along comes a real story of redemption with sotrong characters, humour and great cinematography. Not just the usual suspects

A Clint Eastwood masterpiece. Excellent cinematography, well written and exceptionally paced; one of his finest feats as a filmmaker. Eastwood portrays his character as the tough badass who has lost it all admirably, but his true talent shines through in his directing. While Josey Wales contains all the action and gunslinging you have come to expect, it also has a story to tell. A man who lost everything to save those with nothing. A fine Western, a good story and a truly great film.

It's a decent western. At the very beginning I thought that this will be a damn good but during the movie I started to feel it too long. That's 'cause there's too much air in between the scenes and things get a little bit too boring.

One of the better westerns of all time Eastwood shines and set solidfied his role (in my mind, sorry John Wayne) as the ultimate cowboy. It's exciting , funny and even sweet at times. Was also a peek of what was to come with Clint on the other side of the camera.

Another superb western from Eastwood. It manages to turn the stereotype of Union soldiers being morally fantastic liberators and provides the grim reality that atrocities were committed by both sides during the American civil war. Eastwood is fantastic as Josey Wales, the once politically apathetic frontiersman driven to join the Confederates after Union soldiers butcher his family. As a side note the author of the novel this is based was a member of the KKK. Oh my.

Nice Western fun where Eastwood's charisma washes away the few small issues the film has.

My favorite Clint Eastwood movie ever. The fact that it's about a part of the US that's very overlooked in history class when you learn about the Civil War and what happened afterwards made it all the more interesting.

a fairly original western with eastwood doing tip top in both acting and directing. never boring, always bad ass, and nearly every character in the movie is interesting and keeps you entertained. i was definitely humored by eastwood spitting tobacco on everything that moved.

Great fun. The whole thing is just a very well put together, enjoyable film. There are so many great scenes, great characters (nice to see some compassionately put together Indians in a western), great pieces of dialogue, that it is hard not to like it. If I had to fault it I would say that some of the more caricatured side characters didn't quite fit and there's a certain situation that occurs twice that irks me whenever it occurs in any film, but other than that I enjoyed this one a lot.

Eastwood in top form both in filmmaking and acting.

Great directing, acting and of course the screenplay. Eastwood found the ideal harmony between spagetti westerns and the american westerns from the 50's.

A crisp, well-paced effort from Eastwood. The film slowly builds its emotional core, ironically through a series of violent confrontations that lead to the rescues of what becomes a strange and motley grouping of people. This assortment of rejects and wanderers form a community borne out of a necessity for human contact and interaction, with the sacrificing Wales at its center. The cinematography is gorgeous and the dialogue crackles throughout. Very entertaining.

If you are a Western or Clint Eastwood fan then you must check out this film. Eastwood is great in the lead role and the main reason to watch this story. The script is straight forward but Eastwood keeps things moving along.
