First-rate entry in Universal's Sherlock Holmes series. Good work from Ankers as a villainess with a penchant for disguise and Hatton as the lumbering Creeper -- a character whose popularity led to the acromegalic Hatton's brief stardom in second features like _House of Horrors_ and _The Brute Man_.

It starts off well but gets progressively weaker and once again we get a completely out of place speech at the end. OK way to pass an hour, but nothing more.

Yet another fine Sherlock adventure, this one short on mystery but with a good bit of suspense.
