If I had children, they would grow up with this. The Wizard of Oz by way of The Magic School Bus, Jones' film is thematically superior to its better-known peers, even if the budget shows in places. A hidden minor gem with a lot of heart, smart dialogue and a great moral.

A childhood favorite of mine, the book and the movie. Some wonderful wordplay for those who love language.

The Phantom Tollbooth isn't Jones' best work but it's definitely a great animated movie. The story the movie is based on is classic and the animation itself is a great depiction of the crazy world.

Wow, that really was Eddie Munster. Some pretty awful songs throughout--especially the one with the titles ("You should see how interesting life is"?--eek). Awfully preachy--seemed almost like Pilgrim's Progress in a way. And there didn't really seem to be much point to it either (except as a video to accompany an Up With People seminar). The Awful Din was a hoot though--and the Sunset Suite was cool. Also thought the Doldrums song would make a good YouTube video (and maybe it already has).

An unsung masterpiece of American animation. A fantastic adaptation of one of the finest children's books ever written that honors its source while utilizing the filmic medium. Much of the genius wordplay and ideas manages to stay true in the film. Plus this is the only feature length film directed by Chuck Jones, I don't know why it's not an American classic and a staple in every family's home. It's not even on DVD for christ's sake!!! 5.0 Stars Want To See Not Interested An unsung mast
