Pretty decent pre-Romero zombiemovie. The zombies are well made and more creepy than most haiti-voodoo zombies. Also it is not without the social commentary that has come to be affiliated with the genre later on.

The enjoyable missing link between "I Walked With a Zombie" and "Night of the Living Dead" with some fine ideas and a strong and surprising story.

A solid film in the Hammer House of Horror catalogue. A few of my relatives, when watching the film on Halloween weekend, thought it was cheesy and wooden, but personally it's an interesting and engaging period zombie film which has dated far less than some horror movies from even only a few years ago.

One of the more enjoyable and light-hearted Hammer Horror films I've watched so far with some likeable characters, especially Sylvia, and a decent storyline following Sir James Forbes and his daughter trying to work out what is happening to a small town and their sudden deaths. The zombies are hardly scary, but being the 60's I'll let it slide, but overall there's enough to keep you amused and interested, but compared to the great zombie films of today it doesn't come anywhere close.

I'm not very familiar with the "Hammer-horror", but this was an exquisitely slick fucking flick right here! Although it feels very methodical and steadfast in structure and upright in tone, there's (for example) suddenly a remarkable nightmare-sequence turning up in the middle of the film, and with its imaginative use of light and solicitous framing it totally steals the show. Tasty as hell.

Leave it to England's venerable Hammer Studios to create a cautionary tale about rampant capitalism using rotting zombies.

One of the few good Hammers that doesn't feature Cushing or Lee. A good metaphorical illustration of the traditional British indifference toward the working classes
