Nothing seems relevant, Burt Lancaster gets on my nerves, and the ending, though good, just felt silly. It was watchable and sort of entertaining (the dynamite arrows were cool), but the substance was greatly lacking in a film that tried.

This film marks the point in my life when I finally can admit that there are lots of good westerns besides Leone and Peckinpah. Story and characters takes some time to expand, but when they do the film is lots of fun. Lancaster's charisma makes his most un-hero character in this film my favorite. Cardinale used to be a very hot woman. Ending is way too soft to grant this film status of classic.

Everything goes according to plan in a straightforward western. What saves the day is charismatic cast who make this a relatively fun movie.

The professionals is a textbook western, with a strong mission impossible vibe. The story is quite original due to some interesting tidbits about revolution, but the slow burning nature of the plot inevitably tires the audience. Neverthless, Cardinale's mesmerizing presence elevates the movie to a must-watch status.

I really miss the ensemble adventure film. This happens to be a surprisingly above-par western with witty dialogue and just-fleshed-out-enough characters, albeit in a tad of a formula plot. Nevertheless, the acting and general delivery more than saves this, including Jack Palance as the Mexican Raza and some amazing early Conrad Hall cinematography.

Classic action-western follows Lee Marvin leading his band of mercenaries across Mexico to recover a kidnapped woman from bloodthirsty bandits.

It's aptly made but very formulaic... hackneyed damsel in distress storyline with the mandatory twist, the good guys always hit and the bad guys always miss, every crazy scheme always works perfectly, that sort of shit. Palance fucking rocks as the Mexican kidnapper though. Really steals the show.
