Considering the talent of everyone involved (is this the same director as Farewell, My Concubine?!), this should be much, much better. The editing and pacing is laughably poor, the characters uninteresting and the CGI nauseating.

Unneccesarily convoluted, and chock full of ridiculous CGI that looks like it's right out of Kung Fu Hustle. Hiroyuki Sanada is too good of an actor to waste his time on drivel like this.
