I've seen the major action-scenes of this movie at least four times by now.. The plot (which can be summarized as follows: 1. Tribal-Jaa learns to fight, 2. WHERE'S HIS ****** ELEPHANTS?!, 3. Gone) is just lame - Plenty of scenes could (and should) be cut.. The action is just too awesome (Jaa's fighting style = FUCK OFF MINION!!!) and the direction slick enough for me to not give a Thai's ass! Superior to the ultra-boring Ong-Bak which only have a few fun scenes and an even more nonsensical plot

The story is really a tool to place Tony Ja in key position to beat the shit out of swarms of bad guys. But it's still amazing to watch him do his stuff. There are some characters that are just plain stupid, but it's somewhat forgivable.

The original version (Tom Yum Goong) is vastly superior to the Weinsteins butchered version known as "The Protector". Sure the plot is still pretty silly, but at least in the original version you can make sense of it. The Weinstein cut just lops out anything that isn't action. The action, however, is some of the best fighting seen onscreen in years.

The fight scenes in this movie could literally be strung together by ANYTHING. There's no plot. Just dude running up to random people screaming WHERE'S MY ELEPHANT? I showed one of those scenes to somebody out of context, it's comedy gold. Obviously the fight scenes are marvelous, but that doesn't make a movie. Or, it does, but it shouldn't.

"They stole my elephant! I'm going to go and beat people up in Australia!". Some great fights, but the finale is a real let down. It lacks the impact of Ong-Bak because it doesn't really give us anything new, but its still a good spectacle.

Worth watching just for the action scenes. It's a pretty simplistic story, and there's actually very little dialogue, but there really is some outstanding action here, including one fight scene that's a several-minutes-long continuous shot

Overall Enjoyment: 25/40, Plot/Themes: 0/20, Cinematography/Direction: 15/20, Acting/Writing: 5/20 The kung fu scenes were incredible, but the rest of the movie was beyond horrible. The plot and other characters were poorly developed and featured far too often for my taste. Another user said it best with "Not as good as Ong Bak, but any Tony Jaa is good Tony Jaa". Except when he breaks that rule later with Ong Bak 2 and 3.

While flashing from one action scene to another without much of a plot can be confusing, the martial arts are amazing while the plol is Dumbo: First Blood Part 2, so I'm ok with the movie having all thrills, no fills.

I'm aasuming this also known as Warrior King. If not, ignore this. The one I'm thinking of involves Tony Jaa kicking ass (yay!), screaming "WHERE IS MY ELEPHANT?!?" like Bruce Lee crossed with a Dr Suess character, the running off and finding more people to hit/kick/hurt.
If so, then action good, everything else eh. The continuous shot of Jaa moving his way up a building punching out fools left and right is awesome, worth the rest of the film just for that. But it's probably on You-tube

There are a couple of jaw-dropping awesome scenes (a five minute tracking shot as Kham fights his way up through a restaurant and the seeming endlesss climax battle), but otherwise is let down by the awful 'news coverage' device to move the plot along, and the comically bad foley. The action is rendered from fantastic to cartoon-like by the ham-fisted sound effects. If anything I'm just glad I've seen this before Ong-Bak.

The plot is merely insane little bits that attempt to add up to a story, but make almost no sense and contain no narrative flow from one scene to the next. But the action is spectacular, much more fun than Ong Bak. The unbroken take of Jaa fighting his way up the tower is astonishing and the climax battle is hilariously over-the-top, with its bone-crunching sound effects. It'd be nice if there was a better script, and Jaa desperately needs to develop some charisma, but there's hope for him yet

Two scenes make the narrative nonsense and self-seriousness and ludicrously choreographed non-fight action scenes worthwhile: one breathtaking fight scene that follows Jaa up a flight of stairs for four minutes without breaking shot and another in which Jaa breaks the limbs of 50 GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKERS.
