Over=the-top, tongue-in-cheek Western with classic Raimi directorial touches. And what a plot: a tournament for gunfighters, just like the NCAA--with brackets!

It's not so bad, with a decent cast and quality performances to boot. I liked Raimi's direction on this one, particularly the screenplay. The plot was a bit cliche, a little morally ambiguous at times, but when it all boiled down to it it was a good vs bad type Western affair. Worth a watch though.

Full of unrealistic and irritating characters. I can't even call it ''western''. Hey, I have rewatched ''Once Upon a Time in The West'' yesterday. I think that may explain why I hate this film so much! The Quick and the Dead is an answer of ''Why shouldn't Raimi make western?''
