Summary: The story is about two swindlers who get their hands on a map to the fabled city of gold, El Dorado while pulling off some sort of scam. Their plan goes bad and the rogues end up lost at sea after a number of misfortunes. Oddly enough, they end up on the shores of El Dorado and are worshiped by the natives for their foreign appearance. (imdb)

I expected something pretty lame judging by the trailers but this wasn't so bad. The plot alone won't convince many people to watch it -- it's very unoriginal. But it's cute and enjoyable enough and it has some amusing moments that help salvage it. Overall, it's a time-pass movie and not a bad one.

Kline's voice fits perfectly (as does Perez's), but Branagh seems almost criminally out of place here. There's a lot of potential, but too many deus ex machina moments and an inconsistent plot take this from being a smart animated film to feeling like it's just been phoned in by a scriptwriter who was trying to meet a deadline, making the whole thing feel distinctly disappointing.

Not the worst film of all time. It's a lot better than it initially sounds, and I did enjoy it, but in the genre of family films, there are scores better.
