A good movie that would have been benefited with more action in regards to robbing banks and getting chased by the law. The slow pace in between just couldn't hold my attention and I was often daydreaming. It also would have been cool if instead of the protagonist just silently looking out a window we could have had the love interest explained to us.

Nothing spectacular here as far as action, or introspection, though, admittedly it is an interesting premise.

Dialogue minimalism only works if other film elements such as an engaging atmosphere or tension make up for the silence (see: Drive). The Robber doesn't have enough of that and is often flat out boring. He is miserable for god knows why. He's a successful marathon runner, has a lovely, feminine girlfriend who enjoys displaying her ample tits, has money because he robs banks with ease, and yet he has the emotional energy of a dead fish. The suspense built as things progressed, which I did enjoy.

The cuts in the sex scenes are kind of funny. How do they take their clothes off without moving? I'm kind of bored of uncommunicative lead males who are ~*dAnGeRoUs*~ but this was definitely more tense than Drive.

Creates something beyond the age-old tale of an ex-con falling back to old ways, without drawing attention to its efforts to do so. Effortless mastery of filmmaking art and craft from everyone involved. At times exhilarating, engrossing (hardly needed subtitles), shocking, and sad.

Great movie, very well acted, but something was missing for me. There are maybe a few too many close calls. I liked that it didn't deal with the characters emotions, but it some places it probably should have. But the acting and direction are good and so is the overall story. Recommended.

The Robber focuses on its main character from a distance, which works well; he's devoid of personality outside of his extreme behavior, and that makes him a fascinating enigma. Unfortunately, the same treatment is given to his lover, whose attraction is motiveless enough to expose their relationship as a mere tool for character depth.
