Arnie pounding and punning his way through "Mad Maxing With The Stars"

Relatively high rating, perhaps, but this adaptation of a "Richard Bachman" short story packs a satirical punch, reminiscent of early Verhoeven. And if you can ever get yourself to rate an Arnie-flic below 50, you have no soul.

very very very 80's, deviated too much from the book but otherwise a solid laugh

Everything about this film is completely ridiculous right down to the over the top acting, the premise, as well as the costumes involved. It works as a piece of media satire though. This is also Arnold in his 80's prime kicking ass and shoveling out one liners that were actually pretty funny then.

Pure 80s cheese, the film never tries to reach any deeper with the violence on TV/violence in real life idea, which may be for the best. The Running Man is essentially 90 minutes of Schwarenegger running around killing people before making the requisite quip, his enemies even have gimmicks to aid the puns. The characters are paper thin and the plot rumbles along exactly as you'd guess after watching the trailer. There's plenty of inoffensive enjoyment to be had here though.

Cheery and sadistic, ridiculously dated.

Better or at least funnier than Gamer, Schwarzenegger running around in a tight, yellow Adidas jumpsuit - but since Gamer sucks big time that doesn't mean it's masterpiece. It's funny how in the end everyone cheers just the same, it's just entertainment broadcast on TV, how Schwarezenegger deals with Killian is no different for them how Killian dealt with him.
