Summary: When young Mathayus witnesses his father's death in the hands of the king, his quest for vengeance transforms him into the most feared warrior of the ancient world. (imdb)
Just plain ridiculous. I heve never, ever, seen a minotaur which looked that stupid. And what about Asarte? What weak godess is she supposed to represent?
Quite everything in this film sucks. I liked the Chinese dude, but that's about it.
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior is an awful, awful movie. Nothing about it works, nor does anything even come close. It's letdown most by its actors, although the action scenes leave a lot to be desired as well. It's also a very cheap looking film, and if I had to guess, I would say its budget was probably less than The Rock's salary for the original Scorpion King.
"Just maybe worthy of a bored afternoon, provided you're either A) 14 years old, or B) a longtime fan of the "quest" movies and you want something to poke a little fun at. (Or maybe not.)"
Some decent fight scenes and cinematography during these fight scenes but that's it. Basically it's Conan: The Barbarian but with a far lower budget, a way worse soundtrack and much poorer sets. The acting is about the same quality though (awful). It just lacks any charm that Conan had. Plus it's pretty long for a b-movie Xena clone. Almost two hours and let me tell you it really feels like two hours.
This movie had it all, if we're talking about things a movie shouldn't have, that is! Have you ever wanted to see a movie that takes place in ancient Egypt, where they have plastic weapons, bad spec. effects and much much more? Well then you'll enjoy Rise of a Warrior! The archers in this movie actually wield plastic bows, it makes you wonder what they spent the budget on, as it was NOT the special effects in the movie either! It will take you blood, sweat and tears to endure 2 hours of this!
What you'd expect from a direct to DVD sequel to 'The Rock's' 2002 smash hit 'The Scorpion King', and while it was rather corny I still managed to enjoy it as it follows the similar fomula from the first film. It got a little lost towards the middle, and the special effects were a let down especially towards the end, but the characters and actors were very likeable. Overall it wont please everyone, but there was enough to keep me satisfied as visually it looked great :) Worth a look!
The rule of underworld was kind of cute. She was a entity without fysical body (except one prepared for a fight) and her lightness was executed more or less nicely. All points for her. Story itself, acting, effects and sets were good for nothing. Lots of nowhere going talks.
