Summary: After a nuclear holocaust has forced people on earth to set up house on the moon, their continuing existence depends on some medication to fight off the effects of radiation. The trouble is that this medicine is now controlled by the villainous Omus who lives on the planet where the miracle drug is made. He is in the process of blackmailing the earth people into accepting him as a dictator when a group of them sneak out in a rocket to defeat him and save the day, whatever the day is on the moon. Nothing to do with the 1930s genre classic of the same name. This is an abysmally bad sub-Star Wars sci-fi flick with some of the most hammed-up performances I've ever seen. Throw in some robots that look like they were found in a dumpster outside a 1960s Doctor Who studio, wobbly consoles, Airfix models suspended against a starfield backdrop, disco theme tune and it sounds like it should be bad-good and worth a laugh. It isn't.

A story so lacking in urgency or purpose (at least the way it's told) that the viewer is better off viewing The Shape of Things to Come as a collection of ridiculous scenes rather a coherent movie. Laugh at the individual slices of ineptitude, but don't actually try to become involved with the characters or plot.
