The first half is pretty enjoyable but it became tedious quickly. Sam Rockwell is totally believable as the gay drug dealer and Jonah Hill looks like he's about one twinkie away from an aneurysm. If you enjoy watching kids get treated like shit you will probably like this. Also I don't understand David Gordon Green's career path right now, does he have a drug problem or something?

This movie took a while for me to get into it but once it got rolling I got a few good laughs in.
Jonah Hill is in the same comfortable role he is always in, a lazy good-for-nothing slacker.
Forced to babysit a Kardashian wannabe girl, a confused issues-laden boy and a crazy adopted Hispanic kid, Hill gets the night of his life trying to appease everyone but himself.
A lot of hard lessons later everyone is better for it and it has a very nice and sweet ending.
A few great laughs, not perfect

the OST was kind of unnecessary, didn't add anything to the movie most of the time. as did...the plot. note: making fun of it doesn't necessarily improve your shitty story. plus: max records was way better in where the wild things are.
still kinda funny.

How do movies like these get made? I mean, everyone has to know it will suck and not make much money, right? Anyway, The Sitter has a bad lead, a worse script, and one of the dumbest premises ever. Everything else is okay, I guess. Except for the weird gay subplot. That was incredibly out of place and probably offensive, considering scenes prior to that like the one where a Latino kid steals a dinosaur egg full of cocaine--whatever. I like Sam Rockwell.

The comedy's quite hit or miss and the characters are pretty generic cardboard cutouts of "what it means to be a youth in today's world." Hill without question carries the movie, but his awkward guy shtick tends to get old (his Devil Wears Prada lines are painful).

Poorly written shlock that grasps pointlessly in far too many directions. Setting aside its nonsensical narrative, it also fails to be appreciably funny, Hill is fencing deadpan without a foil. The children, while cute and genuine, are given precious little to work with, and they have by far the best developed characters.

I've seen worse, I guess, but it's just not that funny, especially compared to Jonah Hill's previous "wacky comedy of escalation all set on a single night" film, Superbad. I did enjoy Sam Rockwell as the drug lord.

Things I learned from the Sitter. Violent psychological disorders can be cured through one minute speeches. The support of gangs can be earned through a few simple hand gestures. Gay kids can be spotted through some text messages and a quick glance on the subway.

The comedy is always forced and telegraphed, as if the film actually wants you to see it coming, the result being that I spent most of the time checking my watch wondering when they were going to get around to each inevitable moment. If the fact that it was unfunny wasn't enough, it also throws in a healthy dose of casual racism.

Slater is so fucking annoying, this film is pretty underrated in my opinion, it has some good laughs and that's what comedy films are about, right? Besides the fact that the plot can get a bit predictable at times it's still entertaining and has its funny moments.

I'm a fan of Jonah Hill, but this wasn't that great of a movie. Most of the humour was "isn't this so fucked up?" type of humour, and none of it was really that bad. I liked the little girl in it, she was fun. The other two kids weren't very interesting though. Sam Rockwell was alright, I don't really get why he would sign on to a movie like this though. Also why is the poster of a stripper, when there wasn't even a stripper in the whole movie.

The Sitter is an Adventures in Babysitting knockoff that, as long as the original exists, should not be sought out for any reason other than an example of how not to do it. It's a director-for-hire project, one in which nobody cares about it as long as everyone gets paid. Skip this movie, and remember that sometimes good and smart people make bad decisions. This is one of them.

Don't quite know where the strippers on the poster was supposed to be in this movie. On another note, don't quite know where the fun part was supposed to be in this movie? And a common interest in some astrology shit isn't enough for the former fat Jonah Hill to score with a really good looking girl, c'mon!

Nothing about this movie will blow anyone away, but it's not terrible. It's funny (but never hilarious), embraces it's 'R' rating without having the kids constantly cussing for cheap laughs(they do say some stuff but it's not over the top), has a few nice performances (Sam Rockwell, 3 main kids), and has a short enough run-time that it's a tight film. Too bad it's incredibly unrealistic and based mostly on escalating stupid premises.

Jonah Hill cannot carry a film; he is a character actor. This is essentially a remake of Superbad, but much worse and with overt rather than implied homosexual themes. The only decent comedy actor in the whole film is the little girl. The rest of the cast is not funny at all.

Hill's the whole show, and 75% of the funny stuff's in the previews, as is usually the case in movies like this. But it's not as junky as some of the reviews have been stating. There are nods herein not only to "Adventures in Babysitting" but "The Warriors," "After Hours," "Spanking the Monkey" and a little bit of "Ferris Bueller." David Gordon Green's clearly a guy who's still in love with the movies. That affection's visible, if not exactly enough to lift this above the pedestrian.
