It could have been a great film if it was either shorter, or had an elaborate plot. As it is, the plot really drags, especially during the long and repetitive climax. Acting is very good; put Cushing and Lee together in a room and it lights up. Cinematography is interesting and unusual. Avant-garde score is great. Fans of demonology and witchcraft should definitely see this film.

After countless hours of horror in my life, this one actually scared me for some odd reason.

Worth at least one viewing for any Amicus fans, but not my favorite. I think I would have liked it more as a horror anthology with this part of the movie condensed into the frame story.

Provocative, entertaining and highly well done. Peter Cushing gives it his all and really helps to sell the film along with some great direction. Highly Recommended.
