Quite a bit better than its predecessor. Though it still has issues at least the adventure tone works well, Valentino shows some screen presence and the romance is palatable.

the first one is more acclaimed, better written, longer, and has more of exactly what made valentino a star. this one is a sad shadow of the former movie that should have never been made, and moreover anyone who's seen the original should probably think twice about tainting it's flavor by watching this.

An enjoyable bit of a star vehicle and a reasonably exciting swashbuckler. Valentino is very much the focus, and he carries his role with a nice weight and respectability. His character is quite engaging.
