A solid Wayne western, although The Duke is at least 20 years too old for the role he plays in the film. The cast is an all-star lineup of man's men, from Wayne through George Kennedy through Earl Holliman (who I remember best from the Angie Dickinson "Police Woman" television series) through James Gregory as the villain Morgan Hastings. And a fantastic score by Elmer Bernstein.

A pretty fun movie and the way the cast was, it showed. A good build up from the first hour and a half to a very climactic last half hour. Dean Martin was a scene stealer in just about every scene he was in.

I love westerns so I gave this a ninety but I'm not a big John Wayne fan because he wan't a real cowboy, he didn't embrace the cowboy lifestyle like many of his contemporaries did.
