A little overly bookish and meandering at times, but generally a keenly interesting look at the development, spread, and multitudinous mutations of English. Yes, it was spreading everywhere even *before* everybody had Internet access. One can only wonder what MacNeil and the various authorities on the language we see depicted in this series think of such modern bits of English like "omg u r a fag lol"
