Preachy but entertaining and frequently amusing.

Tolerable 80's teen comedy. Works well enough because of John Cusack's impudent wit.

I like young John Cusack. This is a nice teen romantic comedy, it passes the time pleasantly.

The trip is where it's at. The motivation for it and the outcome are good enough, but it's the bonding and fun of the cross-country trip that make this a pretty good 80's teen comedy.

Rob Reiner shows that even a "teen sex comedy" can have depth. Unlike most films of this genre this is one that most people can actually relate to and thus it becomes more than just a goofy wish fulfillment.

A fairly decent 80s teen road movie, let down by a horribly predictable ending that just seems like a cop-out. John Cusack makes the film worthwhile during the scene with an overly amorous truck driver, but don't feel as though you're missing out on anything by leaving quarter of an hour early.
