Summary: In Buenos Aires, 30 unemployed auto-parts workers walk into their idle factory, roll out sleeping mats and refuse to leave, wanting to restart the silent machines. But this simple act - the take - has the power to turn the globalization debate on its head. The workers face off against the bosses, bankers and a whole system that sees their factories as nothing more than scrap metal for sale. In "The Take" Avi Lewis and Naomi Klein champion a radical economic manifesto for the 21st century.

A documentary of the socialist expropriation of abandoned factories in Argentina, The dignity of the displaced workers is a strong force in the emotional content and success of the movement.

A true eye-opener! This documentary illuminates the injustices Capitalism has created in South America yet the workers reactions which are chronicalled in the film are absolutely amazing. A must see for anyone doubting an alternative to western societies shameless corporate structure.

Asks the important question of what follows from the possibility that the current industrial model may be close to exhaustion, having undermined itself to the point of self-destruction. Even though I would have liked greater analysis of this question than can be found here, both in terms of diagnosis and prognosis, nevertheless this documentary succeeds in illuminating important elements not only of this question, but of the future answers to it which at present are only visible in outline.
