Made by Fassbinder regulars Kurt Raab and Ulli Lommel, and featuring actors from the Fassbinder troupe, The Tenderness of Wolves is the true story of the Butcher of Hanover, Fritz Haarmann, told in a style similar to Fassbinder's. It's pretty to look at and amusingly melodramatic, but doesn't have what a serial killer movie seems to need. Its plot is a bit overcomplicated for the Fassbinderian presentation, whilst lacking the psychological depth found in Fassbinder's work.
