Summary: On one last road trip before they're sent to serve in Vietnam, two brothers and their girlfriends get into an accident that calls their local sheriff to the scene...
An impressive sequel, or prequel, to the 2003 film, thats managed to be even more gruesome and violent. Its great to see how it all began with the backstory of Leatherface finally being told. The four young adults (Chrissie, Eric, Dean & Bailey) are all likeable characters, especially the brother bond between Eric & Dean. Sherrif Hoyt is probably more of a villain than Leatherface will ever be as well. Overall it will keep Horror fans happy and fans of the TCM films should also be pleased :)
this movie could have worked...but oh man is the movie boringly bad...the torture scenes in this movie are nonsense..and only put there to fill up gaps in the scripts..they are so un neccesary...there are some decent spots..but not enough to even call it watchable..
the film did make me scared from seeing the gore, the cannibalism, and the torture, and along with great acting this movie felt all to real to me. More so then its predecessor. For its ability to make someone believe that it is real and believe that there are really sick people out there that do this sort of thing was enough for me to enjoy it as a scary intense horror film.
With a promising trailer and a decent cast i thought this movie had the potential to be totally awesome. But the movie is almost exactly the same as its predecessor, only with one or two new things going for it ( and they kinda suck) . The intro is nice, but it all goes down hill from there , and it ends up as a jus below average TCM. Too bad the "beginning" was a step down, it could have been so much.
A sloppy movie compared to the 2003 remake. Enjoyed watching most of it though.. Was cool seeing how leatherface got the way he is, though they still didnt really explain a lot, which makes the movie pretty pointless as a prologue..
"Reducing the iconic brute to a victim of childhood neglect and abuse? That's not, as The Beginning's tagline boasts, "The Birth of Fear." It's the death of it." - Nick Schager
