Awful adaptation of a great book. It is in such a rush to tell the whole story that it completely forgets about the characters. There is absolutely no development, the acting is bad, and the camerawork is especially terrible.

Strange film adaptation, but not all that bad for a kid's film if I'm totally honest. While some of the child actors seem a little mature, but then dumbed down again and the plotline is sufficiently surreal the film has a bit of a confused feeling and there are moments where the pacing seems to be everywhere. Visually it's pretty good though, the settings and environment of Venice is certainly fitting for the storyline and the fantasy feel of the production. Not too bad overall.

A kids movie, interesting story, nice location (Venice), all the ingredients are there, but some spark is missing. Also, they've kid-actors, but how come it feels like they're adults acting as kids? Very weird.
