Summary: The tale begins when architect Harold Berger (Paul Hubschmid) arrives in India to meet with Maharahaja Chandra (Walter Reyer), for whom he will build a temple. En route to the Maharahaja's palace, Berger meets a dancer named Seetha (Debra Paget) and saves her from a tiger. Seetha is promised to the Maharahaja, but she and the architect begin to fall in love. (wikipedia)

As a late Fritz Lang adventure tale, this fares a bit better than Moonfleet. The characters are more engaging, and although the adventure elements are sometimes a bit lackluster, there are a few great serials-inspired moments. Most noteworthy is the breathtaking eye candy. Lavish sets and lush colors that leap off the screen, it's quite a beautiful film. However, the exoticism is often cringe-worthy, as Lang indulges in one embarrassing India cliché after another.

It's bit hard to get past some of the cultural insensitivity, but this really is an enjoyable adventure film. The characters really grow on on you and once you get to the cliffhanger ending you're hooked.
