why have I never heard of this movie? It's brilliant!

Ok action flick, nice if you like conspiracy films.

Lousy bloodsport movie with terrible music. There are some nice action sequences, but these are few and far between for the most part. Basically it's the Condemned all over again, but without Vinnie Jones.

The Tournament is an unapologetic film. It will not apologize for all of the fun it will let you have while watching it, nor will it apologize for some of the insane things it will show on-screen. It's there for the sole purpose of giving you some fun action scenes, and that's about it. It fails in giving much depth or insight into its characters, but with a film like this, that's hardly a large criticism. On the whole, I had a lot of fun with The Tournament.

Wonderfully well casted, especially Kelly Hu and Sebastien Foucan, there's a whole bunch of great ideas in there. The action is the right mix of stylish and brutally blunt moments without ever succumbing to blatant showoff stunt pieces.

It's like bad action b-movies from the early 90's are back.

Most films with a similar premise at least remain interesting by focusing on an ensemble of interesting characters, but in this case the story is wasted on a few stereotypical protagonists. The fight scenes are average, but there is absolutely no tension at all because it's always obvious who is going to win and who is going to lose.

Could have been awesome but an awful script and some terrible terrible acting waters down some cool action scenes.

Ridiculous story filled with plotholes, but nonetheless quite entertaining

Plenty of plot holes complete with an absolutely stupid premise but even I can't deny some of the action scenes are entertaining if you enjoy absurdly over-the-top gunplay and fighting. If you don't then steer clear of this one because there is literally nothing else that it offers.

Watching Kelly Hu's "Acting" made me want to gouge my eyes out. Overall it's a movie with a mildly interesting premise that's marred by terrible script and bad casting.

Things I learned from watching this movie: hitmen in general have a terrible sense of fashion.

this movie is a time waster...its a safe little action film..where only one killer can survive they have to kill the other killers...this movie is ridiculous the action is ok...

Horrible dialogue, awful acting and a bad story. The action is the best part but it's not nearly entertaining enough to make me enjoy this movie.

AKA: "When Battle Royale Met A Priest And Asked Him For A (Botched) Lobotomy." Ish. Slightly better than "The Condemned". But then again. What isn't?

Battle Royale for brain deads

Professional Killers kill each other in a tournament. No surprises in the story and a horribly annoying "priest who lost faith". Strangely enough only one killer gets the idea to remove the tracking device, even after several others have noticed that he has done it and that it is apparently a viable strategy.

Was entertaining and not a total waste of time. I actually was pleasantly surprised after I saw it due to the extremely low expectations I had. Also, very cliched but quite promising plot.

Worth a watch

Some good action set pieces and a few imaginative scenes for the relatively independent action budget (about $12,000,000) but the writing is silly trash that is even stupider than what Hollywood comes up with. Carlyle and Rhames are both wasted in this sort of effort.

the story is absolutely stupid, like bloodsport or something, the action is ok, not much above average though, the best thing about it was the robert carlyle part of the movie and even that was too cheesy sometimes
