Every kid in the audience back then was going crazy up until Optimus died, and the realization set in. That's cinema magic right there.

I am clueless as to the popularity of the Transformer's franchise. The cartoon was crap and this is only slightly better. Still astronomically superior to Michael Bay's gut wrenching piss bucket contributions to the franchise.

This was marred by poor animation and a mediocre plot but it had the voice of Orson fuckin' Welles as Unicron and Leonard Nimoy as Galvatron which automatically kicks the score up a good 5 points above what it should be. It's a pretty underrated little gem.

As a childhood movie it will forever be dear to my heart but in all honesty its pretty awful. Orson Welles is.....something.....in this movie and the soundtrack is just god awful.

Not as good as you remembered. If you remembered it being great, it'll be decent at best. If you remembered it being awful, it'll be complete garbage. Great for kids and those wanting a stroll down memory lane. You've got the touch!

The TV series was really bad and this is also really bad.

It has serious continuity problems, but it's so bad that it's worth watching.

cheesy 80's movie with an awesome soundtrack! The animation does look dated but the story is still top class.

Another childhood favorite that I only barely remember. Until I watch it again, I'm giving it a generic score of 75.

This movie blew my mind away when I saw it in the theatre. First, I was five years old. Second, characters were dying left and right and saying "shit" and "dammit." Great animation (although I'm not an expert), and bitchin' soundtrack. Awesome.

The bad: Hasbro forcing the creators to kill off several of your childhood favorite characters unapologetically to introduce new toys. The ugly: chaotic, and the song Dare To Be Stupid. The good: it's Transformers dude! And it has Unicron, the most spectacular and enigmatic badguy ever (it eats planets and has godlike powers). Plus: good and badguys are forced to work together against a common threat...but they don't! Thanks for that.

I loved this as a kid that was until Opitmus Prime was killed and I cried. Just what were they thinking. It was just cruel to do that to kids!!! Now I'm alot older and have gotten over the trauma and can now enjoy the film. Yes I it is cheesy but that is part of its charm.

Nostalgia value if nothing else.

Spectacular special effects mingled with a not very accurate story, but for the fans of the TV serie (as me) it is MAGNIFICO!

Pretty good animation. I just wish there was more Optimus Prime. He's a badass. The soundtrack is so deliciously 80s and over the top, but it's silly fun. It is not without flaw, but overall this movie is extremely entertaining. I would have loved it as a kid.

Weird Al was on the soundtrack, ya'll. Not to mention that Orson Wells...ORSON WELLS played a planet eating robot. I mean, come on...
