Great comedy. Coogan and Brydon have hilarious on screen chemistry and the dialogue is wonderfully witty. The food cooked and eaten makes you hungry for fine dining, and the scenery makes you jealous of England. It's a fantastic film that is worth the watch.

The trip is not heavy on plot but it is still very enjoyable to watch. Both Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are funny and they have good chemistry together. There are a lot of scenes of the 2 main characters talking while having dinner but the the dialogue is funny.

An awkward, amusing, and subtly funny road movie. The actors are doing quite a nice job playing "themselves" and I can't help feeling sorry for both of them in a way. A nice movie best enjoyed in a with someone who knows who these guys are.

It was entertaining, but wasn't really sure what direction it was going in. If it was trying to be silly and entertaining, then it was an hour too long...if it was trying to examine the Coogen mindset then it was about half-hour too long and not focused enough. Either way, good for a laugh but too long.

It works brilliantly because it's not content to be anchored to either its comedy or its drama. As soon as the impressions start to get a little old, suddenly you're back in Coogan's tragic world of self-loathing or Brydon's idealism. Both elements integrate superbly. On top of that, the countryside photography is just gorgeous, and it really captures the feel of a road trip, from the way it changes your relationship with whoever you're with to the truly weird feeling of finally returning home.

It's an always amusing albeit one-note comedy in the form of verbal sparring between the two leads. It does hint at some deeper meanings about human nature/character which is great but it's just short of taking any tangible form.

Put a camera on these two and you are bound to be amused. The repetitive nature, however, begins to take its toll 3/4ths of the way through. I laughed the first few times at Michael Caine, not the 5th-10th.

Through committed portrayals of sometimes annoying characters, Coogan and Brydon succeed at both skewering the celebrity images that have grown up around them, while managing to poke fun at themselves. The comedy is always amusing, and at times laugh out loud funny. Winterbottom seems to try a bit too hard for moments of significance, but the use of montage, especially in the end, offers a poignant close to a thoroughly enjoyable comedy.

This was pretty entertaining. Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon play versions of themselves and they’re very funny. They feed off each other very well. Brydon, in particular, did a lot of impressions of various celebrities and that was quite fun. I definitely don’t think this type of humour would be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like British comedy, it’s worth a watch.

I watched the series itself, and really enjoyed it. It was strange when the first episode was mostly Coogan and Brydon doing comedy, and then suddenly Coogan walked up a hill and incongruous sad music started playing, but in episode two, once I'd got into the rhythm, it started to work, and I found it all oddly moving. And it all made a lot more sense when I read that the characters are extensions of the ones they were doing in Tristram Shandy (which I adored). Winterbottom is a miracle.

This film is very slow, methodical, and sometimes melancholy, but when it wants to it really knows how to crank out the comedy. Coogan & Brydon have a great chemistry and their dueling Michael Caine impressions are a real highlight.

I'm cheating with this since I've only seen the TV show, so I'm not sure what's been omitted. It seems like an episodic, but never tiresome road movie, modestly going over some of the neat landscapes, showing up some delicious-looking expensive food, and revelling in the funny and (anti-)intellectual conversations between these two blokes. It can be very funny, but easily shifts into odd drama when necessary.

Reminds me of "A Prarie Home Companion" in all the right ways. Although, Robert Altman's last feature was a bit of a grower, after I'd seen it I needed a few weeks to realize how great it was. We'll see if "The Trip" follows suit.

Rating the series. Coogan is great as usual and you feel for him as Brydon becomes exhausting pretty quickly. There is a moment in the last episode though when Brydon's eyes narrow that is genuinely chilling. The best was definitely Michael Caine.

A very spirited film, and not just for the funny voices and the mad non-sequiturs that carry the conversations, but also for the lived life that is expressed throughout. It's a trip across the actors' home country at midlife point. What is these cultured people's place in all this vastness? There's an existential inquiry happening, and it's elevated by all the silliness.

What we've really got is two films. One is the comedy of Steve and Rob exchanging barbs. These parts generally occur over the meals, and I really enjoyed them. The other film involves the contrast between these people, and I really enjoyed this part as well. The two halves of the film do bleed into each other a bit, but I genuinely appreciated the separation between them. While the film isn't as post-modern as the previous collaborations it still maintains an unconventionality.

Even though it's a very funny note, it's playing on the same one throughout. If you find impressions funny you'll like it, basically. Do you find them hilarious? Then there's a good chance you'll love it. I found the Michael Caine schtick amazing. Coogan and Brydon have great chemistry but wait, we already knew that - and Tristam Shandy is much more accomplished and amusing. That's no reason not to see this, too, though, mind you.

This is a film that assumes such extensive knowledge of British culture I simply can't comprehend what the fuck they're talking about. There's references to specific British channels, programs, and comedic bits that I'm instantly just supposed to recognize. I don't. I'm from Canada, so I understand. There's actual celebrities, and there's "Canadian celebrities for Canadians." There's actual humour, and "Canadian humour." This movie should have remained a "British comedy." It's local humour.

I like it well enough. It was certainly funny, but some of the jokes got kind of stale. I liked the dynamic between the Steve and Rob and it made this movie as watchable as it is. Coogan being the restless actor who thinks he failed to reach his potential (whether by his own fault or bad luck) and Brydon is a family man who seems content with his small amount of fame and how he achieved it. Worth a watch.
