This film has a really good, original script with plenty of laughs. The cast is excellent, Jay Baruchel is great in the title role. This is a must see for any fans of quirky, original comedies.

This film is incohesive and illogical, and the message that it does manage to convey is an underwhelming platitude about social justice and perseverance. That said, I've always liked Jay Baruchel, and his quirky charisma is still present in this film, it just doesn't manage to overcome the irrelevance of the film as a whole.

It was funny, it had legitimate things to say, it spoke to important social issues in an engaging and entertaining way. You can't really ask for a whole lot more than that. I don't necessarily like that it portrays mostly all high-school-aged students in a stereotypical manner, but that's not to say that it's WRONG in that assertion. Trotsky is a fun figure to pay attention to and to make a movie that so closely allegory's Trotsky's life must have been fun to be a part of. Love me some Baruchel.

You don't always see comedies about teenagers in which half of the soundtrack consists of old Russian songs. The picture is really smart and funny up until the last 40 minutes which seem to make use of pretty much every cliché imaginable. Baruchel is consistently wonderful though.

A pretty enjoyable film, it's a sort of teenage rebellion film about fighting The Man (teachers) but with an interesting twist. It's not overtly a comedy but it does have jokes and wit and I imagine lots of other jokes (that I didn't pick up on) that require you to know about the real Trotsky to get them. The film isn't a history lesson though and you can enjoy it. Good performances all round with some quirkiness that reminded me of Juno/Napoleon Dynamite.

This was a lot of fun, and also had a lot of heart. Baruchel is doing fine for himself, and I hope he continues to make smart choices.
