Summary: As a string of mysterious killings grips Seattle, Bella, whose high school graduation is fast approaching, is forced to choose between her love for vampire Edward and her friendship with werewolf Jacob.
Why is Bella so important to this story? I found the supporting characters' histories far more interesting than anything this poorly crafted Mary Sue has done. This movie, no this story, should've been about them instead of this high school pop-tart who is having a hard time picking between two hot fellas way out of her league.
For what it's worth, I actually enjoyed Eclipse, more than the other two Twilight films, at least. Mostly because it told the story New Moon tried to tell in a somewhat compelling and interesting way, but also because there was some actual drama and tension throughout. While it still felt a little bit too long, I wasn't bored often during it, and that's saying something. For me, it's the first real enjoyable Twilight film so far, actually having some fun moments.
"Picturesque photography, amped-up action, borrowed poetry, and age-old romance have The Twilight Saga on its surest footing yet-that is, until the youngsters grow up and realize True Blood tells the same story so much better."
So far the best movie of the twilight saga. The rivalry between Jake and Edward was taken to more interesting level compared to the new moon. The writers seem to have chosen for an approach with more emphasis on the background of the characters and it pays off. The movie seemed more fit for all ages. Furthermore, the emphasis on the vampire battle made you sometimes forget the cheesy teenage love aspect. However, sometimes isn't enough. They could've done more.
As fun as it is watching a completely broken human being with no self-worth beg to be killed by her boyfriend who is in himself a creepy, needy broken person I just can't seem to enjoy this. It is simply so devoid and separate from reality, and I'm not talking about vampires here. Human interaction in this film isn't in any way natural. I understand what the creators want us to feel but we just can't feel it because it's so horrendously ungenuine.
This was really good...compared to the last movie. The film looked much more polished and at least this time the vampires didn't wear tacky Halloween make up. However, still ridiculous: Edward's "sparkling". When you can see each individual sparkle, you know it's bad. Still more ridiculous: The love triangle. I don't care who the fuck Bella chooses, preferably the one who would make her shut up.
The story that initially seemed like a campy reversal of gender dynamics has pretty much descended into the realm of moral reprehensibility. After an obvious instance of sexual assault, followed by an inexplicably stupid fanservice tent cuddle, Jacob's stalker ways are rewarded with a "romantic" kiss that the movie's tone seems perfectly okay with. What happened to vampire baseball?
You keep expecting these things to achieve something approaching competence, and it keeps never frigging happening. This one may be the worst yet, with a plainly miserable-looking Stewart at the center and some of the most carelessly slapdash editing, forehead-smackingly insulting character inconsistencies, and jaw-droppingly bad acting you'll ever encounter. It's as if the whole project has been conceived and executed by a 9-year-old girl. And yet...I await the next installment, somehow.
The problem with the others, that they had to crowbar another story in instead of giving the fans their romance, is unavoidable now; aside from a couple of character scenes, both amusing and interesting for what they were, you have to sit through rags of a fantasy plot. Still more bearable than most films. Contrary to popular view, I can sympathise with the Bella character. Its the monsters who have the hormonal issues to deal with; all of Jacob's sexual baggage could be dealt with with a wank.
