Funny situations when the chauvinist tell the trues.

Horrible. One of the worst two or three movies of '09.

The fact that Katherine Heigl is SUCH an attractive woman really distracts from "The Ugly Truth". IF ONLY the movie had cast an average-looking actress to play the lead, it would have been soooo much more believable (thus more enjoyable). All this being said, I was quite surprised at how well Heigl delivered the character despite her miscasting. She did as well as she possible could considering this obstacle. The movie is cute enough to be worthy of a Redbox Rental.

The writers here found an intriguing concept that could've been the defying romantic-comedy willing to be risky. Instead, the writers developed a safe, by-the-numbers script that exists in some dimension other than reality--one where Katherine Heigl needs dating tips, a local news program would replace headlines with sex-talk nonsense, and where the restaurant orgasm scene in "When Harry Met Sally" didn't happen. This is terrible, stupid, superficial trash.

..and the ugly actor.

It is what it is. Ugly? Yes. Truthful? Yes. The movie is the ugly truth that most of these romantic date comedy movies are all the same. It did have it slightly funny moments which help keep it bearable, and for it not to drop down to the bottom tier of these types. Is it wrong to say that I found G. Butler somewhat funny? If you have any questions about the film ask me quick because I am never going to see it again and it will soon mush up into all the other date films i have seen.

I actually made it to the hotel scene before I walked out. Then my fiance followed me into my computer room where she found me giving it a terrible rating on Criticker. She then explained that by me giving it a 17, I'm really just making fun of her and that I've become a movie snob. To which i replied, "you're absolutely right.... I should have given this a 16." That my friends, is the ugly truth.

I think this movie is not just a "chick-flick", I felt that it had enough raunchy humor to entertain the guys. It kept me laughing the entire time. But it IS a romantic comedy so don't expect fantastic scripts, acting, or special effects.

This movie is complete obvious. You know what will hapen from the first second on. Also you're expecting Gerard Butler any second to scream THIS IS SPARTA. But anyway it's a good movie :)

Not at all as bad as I expected or the ratings here would indicate, but there's just too much wrong with it to recommend it in any way. The film is awfully written, but luckily Butler somewhat saves it and brings something to his character that makes him at least seem alive. A few laughs are to be had, but not many, and there are more awkward moments than there are funny ones.

The ugly truth is there are probably plenty of people out there who think this is romantic, when it's yet another predictable romcom. Gerard Butler does make a pretty entertaining asshole, so that salvages something.

A generic rom-com that tries to win some Apatow points with an R-rating and a few F-bombs. Unfortunately it's missing the humanity of Apatow's works and relies on too many ham-handed gender cliches and a relationship between two barely likable leads.

It is a romantic comedy, then has the typical pile of cliches. Butler with his charisma carries the coolest part of the movie, funny at times. But it's just another forgettable movie, even that entertain you.

It was kinda funny but its still yet another unbelievably predictable and shallow romantic comedy. If you're really into movies, don't bother.

Nothing really new here, but it was a cute film. Much more funny than I expected.

this is a really funny film! (especially when she is wearing those knickers) A really good comedy romcom that is most certainly worth a watch!

A surprisingly fun comedy. Nothing mind-blowing and there are certainly much better movies out there, but it was okay.

The Ugly, The Scary, and the gadam Hillarious Truth. Gerard Butler is the romanitc cyninic dealing out death to love over his radio talk-show. Katherine Heigl is a control-freak desparate to fall in love. This is comedy.

fuck this movie. i was forced to watch most of it when i went to these girl's rooms with my roommate. i left to do a quick movie audtion for my student film, and i come back to find him watching this with them. i can't be an asshole and leave when i showed up with him so i stayed and watched it. Fuck you Kenny, Fuck you chick flicks, and Fuck You chick from knocked up. oh and fuck you gerald butler, i expected more from you...

some cute stuff but the whole panties fiasco and many other issues made me a little sick. I like the trend they may be starting with a little raunch in a chick flick, but otherwise its close to TV movie worthiness.

Not so good

The movie is okay, but nothing more.Do not have great expectations about a regular romantic comedy! Butler is really sweet in his performance, Kathie like always...A sexy-smiling Blondie on the screen.

a standard romantic comedy with nothing to add to the genre, no explorations of the psyche's of the main characters, no weird twists, no interesting subtext. just plain old "boy meets girl, girl dislikes boy, boy dislikes girl, boy falls in love with girl, girl falls in love with boy" story that we've been told a hundred times since meg ryan decided to be an actress. a mildly entertaining pic that would pass the time if you're willing to feel dumb, and there's absolutely no shame in that.

For all those misogyny lovers out there. Besides that predictable and forgettable.

An Ordinary romantic comedy with a lot of cliche, except a few Butler's clever jokes.

Who was this for? It was totally vulgar on the one hand, but then all "Oh, sex is this important magical thing". It wanted to appeal to everyone, and ends up with the opposite. There were a couple funny scenes, though, particularly at the business dinner.

This had some of the least inspired dialogue ever written, and its character development is laughably bad. It does not feel like anyone involved in the production actually watched the results of their work, rather we are presented with a checklist of romantic comedy features in the form of a film. It is appalling that this film got made, wasted Butler's time, and inexplicably paid Heigl for her atrocious performance.

Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. There are a few laughs, mostly from Gerard Butler's preachy chauvanistic character.

Y'know what, sometimes it's nice to shut off your brain and just enjoy what you see on the screen. Katie-Hi is very good, sexy, actually found her to be a fairly compelling character, and it's getting to the point where I'll watch Gerard make breakfast, I've enjoyed him in everything I've seen. Sure he's one-dimensional for most of the flick and makes the trademark (read: predictable) good-guy turn at the end, but y'know what, as far as late-2000's romantic comedies go, I'm lovin' this one.

solid popcorn movie

I absolutely loved this movie. I thought it was super funny and witty. I love Katherine Heigle I think she is brilliant!
