Less a straight horror movie and more a crime/horror hybrid, turning many cliches of the genre on their ear. The resurrected man is believably damaged, yet hasn't become anything like a monster; the scientist who brought him back, far from playing God, wants to prove the existence of the hereafter; the "revenge" is nothing of the sort, being karmic punishment of the truest kind. Recommended for anyone who likes thoughtful movies with action.

Soaked in atmosphere, but otherwise rather naive. Karloff seems to have simply dialed into to his Monster persona without much effort.

I found it more sad than scary, actually; still, gangsters and zombies make for an....interesting mix.

The film has a decent premise and Karloff is fine (though I wouldn't exactly say top form), but there's nothing else really notable. For a horror film there's very little that's creepy or scary.
