"A grim lamentation for victims of sex trafficking in postwar Bosnia is buried beneath rote filmmaking and cartoonishly rendered villainy." - Bill Weber

Predictable and with poor script. Weisz's acting is good, especially in the second half of the movie. I was positively surprised with the absence of H-wood style ending, but really shocked when I heard Serbs and Bosniaks in the movie speak in some kind of russian-serbo-croatian mix.

The movie tries to make a devil less evil than what is reality. The reality is just disgusting and it continues so that people in the upper echelon of political and corporate system can make millions and billions. The story was watered and acting below par. That doesnt change the reality. It is a movie that everyone must see to know the reality of about corporations like DynCorp, Blackwater, etc.

again? although this movie - if it's based on actual events - does mean something but it led the light again against Muslims .. like in the woman's case & her husband's abuse while the war in Bosnia was invented to decrease Muslims in Europe .. but the good fact is that the UN is responsible for so many crimes in the world Like in Iraq & other countries it played the USA spy in making road maps before they attack and the excuse is . weapons of mas destruction .. so let's invade USA it has them

Rachel Weisz gives a good and powerful performance. though not the best this year but certainly one of the best because i don't remember much good performance right now, they are yet to come. but she was good and did a nice job portraying this character. she is the strength of movie. Directed well enough though i thought somethings were missing, could have been better. Screenplay was nice but doesn't maintain a perfect momentum. cinematography is good.

This is indeed a fine film, mostly due to the fact that the story is rock solid. Did you see Lilja 4 Ever? Did you see 4 months, 3 weeks, ... (or whatever the title was)? These films tought us this: it needs to be bloody awful for spectators for us to get the point. Well, here we're really disgusted, and it's very emphatically told. Sadly, The Whistleblower suffers a bit from not too good stylistic handling. Camera, editing, story-telling is a bit sickening at times. But that's alright, I guess.

Just awful acting and an awful screenplay. Awful. It acts as if the audience is filled with complete morons. I laughed out loud when the young girl got up upon hearing "diplomatic immunity" as if we're supposed to believe that she had any flippin clue what that phrase meant or the implications of said phrase. Kinda shocked Weisz signed up for this.

It always gets a little better when its based on actual events, but The Whistleblower is smoothly told and the doesnt focus to much on all the horrific imagery as you would think. Still, the film jumps a lot in time which isn't explained thoroughly, cause Bolkovac must have met more resistance from the bureaucrats than she did up untill the end... Just a thought...

Balancing steadily between delivering its message and delivering entertainment, this is in the vein of another topical thriller, 'The Constant Gardener', which incidentally also featured Weisz. She's cast against type in the role of a tough cop but she's entirely convincing and we share her disgust with the corruption and immoral acts. It's a rough film but, for the most part, it doesn't feel exploitative or unrealistic.
