Long and boring story. Some okay costums, but they did not carry the entire movie, did it. Madeleine Daly was only to have something to act.

While a beautiful and moving film, The White Countess, sadly falls short of being a great one because it never allows us into the hearts of its primary protagonists. That review gives it too much credit, even.

I remember this movie being long, and slow. Like glacial slow. I also recall that one of my friends hated it beyond all belief and damned Vogue (or was it Harpar's Bazaar?) for recommending it based on the costuming. Well, it certainly did have great costuming.
