considering "may" is supposed to be such a wonderful movie, this one is it's better in every way. that's no problem with mckee, it's just the fact that he's got no supporters. had he had some serious investments for his movies he could have been one of the best.
It's one of the horrors of the decade; a testament to the sense of style and tone that makes Lucky McKee one of the premier players in the genre. The Woods presents Bruckner's experience vis-a-vis unnerving contradictions of her expectations of boarding school life as a battle between troubled youth and troubling adult -- the perfect conceit for '60s set horror, that comes to echo greats like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Rosemary's Baby without sacrificing its own originality and verve.
At the beginning of the movie, let people in perspective, like, this film promises, but it means confused and things are not very well explained, is not bad, but it's not good.
"Those expecting a shock-a-minute gore-fest will most likely walk away scratching their head, but as a semi-homage to Dario Argento's Suspiria, The Woods is a creepy little winner."
