An interesting science fiction work which raises social and gender issues which are still pertinent today. The amount of characters means that the characterisation can be less than desired, but the film is still a good example of Japanese anime.

I found it difficult to keep the names and characteristics of the students straight, especially since it's only a feature length film and not a series. Would have been easier if it was titled They Were Eight or something. But otherwise, it's fairly good, and quite original.

Interesting movie, but too short for the number of characters being examined.
