Summary: A gentleman with a top hat, and a series of women with ever more ludicrous hats enter a movie theatre. They refuse to remove them, until a giant bucket forcibly removes one hat. All but one woman then remove their hats, and the bucket returns to remove the woman. (imdb)
People don't get this, this was the original 'please turn off your cellphones' ad developed by Griffith to play before his feature films. And it's completely absurd so I can't see what not to like. Come on woman, do you really expect to vote with that horrible hat on? Jesus christ.
What's not to like about this? It's absurdist humor from the turn of the century. That bucket was hilarious and completely unexpected. I felt like I was high.
If it were any sillier, it would resemble one of Terry Gilliam's stop-motion cartoons from the Monty Python era, and therefore be good for a chuckle. Unfortunately, it's not quite that silly.
