Dunaway and Von Sydow are really good here, but the whole script really suffers having been cut down from 6 Days. The transitions are too abrupt to allow for buildup or inertia, and the motivating tragedy never fully registers. Appreciation for the principle of Redford's good guy unafraid to get a little mean, but his performance doesn't move me. That sex scene looks about as comfortable as a visit to the gynecologist, despite Dunaway's other strengths. I guess the book's probably a lot better?

Good spy thriller. Faye Dunaway is pretty wasted in her marginal role, but overall it's satisfying enough.

A classic thriller with a slick score and a very, very cool Robert Redford, even if he just reads books.

Absolutely fantastic spy thriller from the mid-70's. Other than the porno soundtrack, it's close to perfect. Well-acted, tightly executed, and the premise is quite believable for the genre.

Far from amazing but pretty good at least. Even as a heterosexual man I can't deny that Redford was probably one of the handsomest faces to ever grace the screen, and Faye Dunaway's not too hard on the eyes either. It's well-directed, and like the French Connection, very 70s without veering into cheese. Check it out, it's a fun and tight little thriller, nothing more, but good for what it is.

I'm thoroughly confused. Not about the cloak-and-dagger plot of international intrigue, but about why Faye Dunaway fell in love with Robert Redford. Completely ridiculous. Credibility was lost right then and there.

Excellent 70's paranoid thriller that's aged pretty well. The plot is slightly ridiculous but the politics looks quite prescient now. And weird to see scenes shot in the WTC.

Nice tight conspiracy movie. Thankfully it has aged pretty well too, just one or two "Oh god the 70s" moments but nothing too obnoxious. Redford played a solid lead and Dunaway was a great fit for her role.

It had a promising start, but I wasn't satisfied with the ending of the story and the romance plot was entirely unbelievable. The acting was mostly sub-par. Hasn't aged well, but it's still somewhat watchable.

Taut thriller in the vein of The Conversation. It's hard to go wrong with movies made in the '70s; many masterpieces to be found in that decade. Good performance from Redford and an interesting story.

A lot of it plays out as a by-the-books suspense/thriller film, but by the end, it reveals itself to be a lot more intelligent and critical than you’d think on the surface. I thought it was directed well, with plenty of tension and some simple yet effective action scenes. The love story between Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway’s characters was a bit contrived, but a good film nevertheless.

Leisurely paced, but entertaining thriller with Redford fine (if somewhat miscast; an Al Pacino type may have been more effective) and Dunaway in probably her warmest performance to date. The indispensible von Sydow is a wonderfully cold villian, and Pollack shows his mastery of filming city street-scapes, though his directorial style seems more at home in the dialogue stretches, rather than the action scenes.

Very tight little spy thriller. It's not hard to see where things are going, but the fun is in getting there. Lots of clever details and neato intelligence stuff. The cast is all good especially Von Sydow in a juicy role that I wish was larger. The romantic subplot, however, is rather forced. There isn't much reason for our attractive heroes to suddenly fall into bed together, but they do, and to the sweet sounds of smooth jazz, no less. Other than that, it's solid entertainment.
