The plot itself falters at times, but as long as it concentrates on the sales pitches and endless restaurant conversations, the film is wonderful.

a willfully left in the dust 80's comedy that pulls off little to none of the laughs intended. the story isn't very good and actually ends up being more tragic than anything else, and it's not even carried out as a black comedy. dreyfuss and devito both wade chest deep in mediocrity, but i suspect that levinson's screenplay was mostly at fault.
