Battered women. It sounds delicious, but it's very wrong.

Gotta be honest: the reveal of the ending in the first scene kills any dramatic tension the final scene is meant to have. Everything else about this film comes together to make an effective, arduous battle showcasing the numerous impediments battered women can face in their struggle for safety and security. The Hong Kong/Mainland China setting is mostly incidental, as this story is relative to people all over the world. Really solid acting.
