Not as bad as most make it out to be, but definitely not anywhere near as great as Arnie's version. Beckinsale and Alba looked too similar as the evil/heroic women, and the script seriously fumbled the "what's real" psychological aspects of the plot. But it was a decently fun and exciting watch, throughout. Loved the idea of "The Fall".

if I could erase my memory of the original version from 1990 - then this mess of an terrible movie would be decent... However there is no "rekall" in the year 2012! From a technical standpoint the new version is decent, the music score & editing is average but the rest is just a pure mess. The original 'Total Recall' was exciting, sexy, violent and humorous. This version here is has non of that!!!

It's pretty much what I expected it would be: Action, ambiguity and one-liners. It is entertaining - sure - but as there is not much depth to the story nor the characters, it's quickly forgotten. So don't watch it as more than what it is; a few hours away from reality (sounds familiar?). The future world they have created is visually stunning. That was what impressed me the most. So if you're into sci-fi, it is definitely worth a look.

This remake may not be set on Mars but it preserves many of the themes and scenes from the Arnie movie. It got me thinking all the way to the end, much like the original. Action is above average with some cool sequences that rarely stay too long. Perhaps my expectations were low, but I quite enjoyed it and maybe even more than the Mars version.

I love the original 'Total Recall', it makes me as giddy as a schoolgirl! So any sort of remake was to be held in high trepidation. Wiseman's TR then is as expected; more one-dimensional, less inventive, and considerably more straight laced compared to Verhoeven's sci-fi classic. But it's not the anticipated total loss. I was impressed with the level of detail, some of the background sci-fi concepts & I'll admit as simple action movie this works just fine. Minus 5 because Bill Nighy is shit.

Don't let nostalgia cloud your judgement. Here is my take, I saw the Arnold version when I was a kid, I loved it and think it was the best movie he ever made. However, this film is better, the premise is more believable and the action is more intense. This film is not perfect by any means, but it accomplishes its mission as an action film, which is to keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend it.

Sure, it doesn't hold a candle to the original, but as far as sci-fi actioners go, this was rather decent fun. Nothing too smart or surprising, but has a few nice elements (hand phone, Obamamoney, The Fall) and plenty of action. OK, the action consists of 67% 'jumping from moving things onto other things', but I was sort of entertained/pacified throughout. But.. really.. lens flares? Who still thinks that's a decent stylistic choice?

Wiseman basically shoots the original plot as an explosive high-def action movie, leaving the wicked strangeness and craftsmanship of the original behind -- there's the woman with three tits, but that's all. It's like an accelerated Bourne reboot with some I, robot CGI and lots of lens flares. Totally vapid.

Wiseman's a competent action director so it's 2 bad he doesn’t seem 2 care about what makes us care. It's hard 2 imagine characters more no-frills than the ones here. How does an audience care about what happens 2 a protagonist who is 1 of 2 people: generic Joe 6-Pack or boiler-plate superspy. Worse, the film seems 2 think this 1 problem constitutes profundity. What's profound is the waste of talent as Cranston & Biel r also given almost nada 2 play. Schwarzeneger's accent had more dimensions.

I thought it was enjoyable. Disconnect yourself from the far superior original and there's some joy to be had with this modern B movie action flick. As a fan of 80s action this was right in my wheelhouse. Stop making comparisons, understand that it's a watered down remake going for the cheaper thrills and enjoy. It could have been much worse.

A bit of credit for effort in trying to be different from the previous version, but that's about it. Weaker story (this one makes NO sense), characters and imagination all make this a dull affair. 100% CGI action scenes don't get the pulse racing and the whole thing INTENTIONALLY looks like Blade Runner crossed with I, Robot.
This film should be renamed "Colin Farrell Falls Off Things", seeing as that is actually what 90% of the "action" consists of.

The nonstop action doesn't give you any time to think about the plot holes or how the movie relates to the original (which except for the FX was better). It was fun to watch, but thinking too much about it afterwards would probably lead to a lower score.
