Summary: Bree (Huffman) is a perfectly adjusted conservative transsexual woman. Amid the less inspired elements, this offers moments of wit and insight, especially during a high-strung visit between Bree and her parents (Flanagan, Young) and younger recovering addict sister (Preston). This movie won't be winning any awards for originality or visionary achievement, but in its own small, sweet way, the film -- and Huffman -- win you over and make you deeply sympathize with the obstacles Bree must face in the name of happiness.

Decent movie that I have no interest in ever seeing again. Huffman's performance was good but it didn't blow me away or anything.

At points this movie is very touching and delicately handled which is really good but the unneccessary indie quirkiness of stuff like the main character's parents and the hitchhiker really lessen the tenderness of the movie. Also the movie drifts dangerously close to melodrama at points. However when it works it is a pleasant but unexceptional movie with a very good performance from Felicity Huffman.
