Trapeze

A hallmark of lazy criticism is to read a movie as a metaphor for filmmaking or as sublimated homosexual lust, but... How much more believable is the eye clinch between Lancaster and Curtis than the awkward smooching between Lollabridga and either of her male costars? A lot. And does Lancaster's trapeze act, which exists as a vision in his head, his art, resemble a director's struggle to make a personal statement amidst the collaborations and interferences of others?

A must-see for Tony Curtis and/or Burt Lancaster fans. Not to mention, circus or acrobat fans. Fun and colorful movie.

The acting and directing in the first half is taut and controlled, and the plot seems headed for genuine tragedy, but after that the focus softens, and the films ends disappointingly in melodrama.

This film explores success, failure, and a love triangle that might extend beyond a bromance. Didn't think I would enjoy "Trapeze," but I did like the internal conflicts between love and personal success.

Tony curtis, Burt Lancaster and Gina Lollabrigida - what could be better? Great story, great acting. A classic's classic.

Is often pretty clumsy and heavy-handed, when it comes to plot, character development or just telling a story in general. Is pretty awesome anyways. And Lancaster and Curtis together...man...

It was more enjoyable than I thought. One of the reasons was what was going on in the background which circus people keep entertaining the viewers.
