Gets a bit bleak towards the end. Still among better movies regarding war traumas.

A stunning portrait of guilt and the psychological effects of war. The film is gripping due to Colin Farrell's brilliantly tortured performance, and the use of several cleverly-framed flashbacks to deliver the big emotional punches of the story. There are also great supporting performances from Christopher Lee and Branko Djuric. It looks great and the music is a particular high point. A movie which entertains, and tugs at the heartstrings, all while asking us to reflect on big issues ourselves.

Average. The story is kinda flimsy here. The plot is great as long as they focus on the hero's stint in Kurdistan but once he returns home, it kinds fizzles out with a very weak ending. But this is strangely the best performance I've seen by Colin Farrell, he really shines as an actor in this feeble fable. His leading lady here must have done somene right to land this role since her acting skills are, for a lack of a better word, crappy. Recommended for Farrell fans only.

Competently shot and Colin Farrell is the main drawing card. Slowly loses its focus, much stronger first half but still alright.
