Not sure where the humour was that everyone is referring to? Nice shots of Norway and pretty cool trolls, but not a lot going on between the characters on the ground to keep you interested from a human level.

It was only a matter of time until trolling got its own movie. I was really quite surprised at how incredibly well-made "Troll Hunter" is. Sure, the CGI isn't that great but some of the shots are incredible and the scenery is pretty breathtaking. I was also surprised at how boring it turned out to be. I've never been a fan of the whole "found footage" thing but although this did it better than most, its pacing and humor are far too erratic. Jespersen and the trolls are fantastic.

I was sort of skeptical about this movie, I loved the idea of a movie about trolls, but wasn't sure exactly how they would approach the topic, but the documentarian style they used was perfect, it drew me in and kept me watching.

Sorry, I had to. Almost completely follows the 'found documentary footage' thing to its credit. I really liked the Troll Hunter himself, his attitude towards the job and the jabbering idiots he drags around.

Norwegian horror movies have gotten a bit of a boost after Dead Snow, and this one shouldn't disappoint those who liked that movie (I loved it). It's not quite as over the top humorous, but the story of a camera crew who set out to do a documentary on bear poaching and end up tagging along with Norway's only known troll hunter is both fun and creepy - plus, damn, it looks good. It's very hard to film Norwegian mountains and not make it beautiful, with or without huge three-headed trolls.

A little inconsistent and unauthentic for a mockumentary (yes, even for one, that is also a comedy), maybe due to the trolls' animation being wayyyyy to cartoonish for them to be actually cool or scary.
Cool idea, just a little too underthought.

Incredibly hilarious! The movie has just enough seriousness, craziness and comedy and it all balanced out the way Blairwitch project never did. It doesn't try to tell you anything, it's just a very funny troll ride through the beautiful Norway, running away from trolls and paralyzing them in the company of an epic protagonist. Awesome!

Dry humor, solid sfx, a great performance by the 'hunter,' and fun explanations for what is happening all make this film quite the ride. My one beef would be how the students reacted after the mine incident...unless that is how Norwegians normally deal with crises...

I have to give them points for sticking with really fairy-tale-esque trolls, not trying to give them some kind of gritty modern reboot that reveals that all of the old stories had it wrong (like how vampire novels just love to keep re-inventing the monster). The humor is very tongue-in-cheek, and there are some really spectacular special effects. Despite the "amateur filmmakers" style, it doesn't suffer from shaky cams that never really show anything, unlike Blair Witch or Cloverfield.

The 'found footage' nature of it is a drag (featuring all the nonsense usually associated with that style of film-making), and the plotting is a bit of a mess. Still as a whole the film is good fun, with the film being at its best when it is at its most dryly comedic.

Pretty good. Just a few minor complaints: they show the monster too early, and they show too much of it. Showing as much as they did makes the monster look silly and fakey; if they had showed less but strategically placed their shots, I think it would be a lot more effective.

With more character development and story-depth this could have been an instant classic. The overall jokey attitude dulled the suspense. Still, worth seeing for the solid performances especially from the central troll-hunter character, and the creative, visually stimulating presentation.

Uses the "found footage" gimmick to tell the story of a group of Norwegian film students trailing who they think is a bear poacher, only to discover he is a government agent tasked with exterminating rogue trolls. Leisurely paced but never boring, the action picks up in the second half once they start actively pursuing the trolls. Some nifty creature designs, decent looking CGI, and some genuinely breathtaking Scandinavian landscapes. Could've used some more gore, though.
