Tom Wiener calls this a "truly boring, worthless film". Yours truly does not *like* it, exactly, but it's a palatable movie. I think it helps if you are a longtime Talking Heads fan and appreciate Byrne's pleasantly weird spin on absolutely everything

I love David Byrne's character but everything else is generically weird and just kind of boring.

The "too clever for it's own good"ness i used to find irritating about this seems a lot funnier now, but it still sort of runs out of steam half way through...

I used to listen to the True Stories lp all the time, when I was 15. But these versions sung by the actors aren't so good. I still listen to the Talking Heads a lot, and I didn't like this movie that much. So if you're not a fan, don't even try...

there really is only one word to describe this movie, and that is bizzare, who thought david byrne would be able to make a movie? really i want answers. on top of that even though the talking heads wrote the music all the other characters are singing it. only in the 80's could something this strange be allowed to be created. oh, p.s. david byrne is a terrible actor.
