Interesting as a case-study in what kind of "hunk" girls drool over in a film (moody and arrogant with overstyled hair ;-) - but the dialogue is horrid, the special effects laughable, the acting at times excruciating and the movie cliched in its look as well as its narrative technique.

Prepare yourself for the most "aimed at teenage girls" movie you've ever seen in your entire God damn life. Even the most generic musicals can't hold a candle to this homeroom bad boy. Full of "dark and brooding" characters, some of the worst awkward dialog and acting you've ever seen Twilight is painful experience for every sense. The only redeeming feature is a bit of visual flare, that's obviously copied, ripped, stolen, what-have-you, from Interview with the Vampire.

Well, I liked it better than Underworld, mainly because at least it's entertaining to make fun of, between Pattison's ridiculous hair and VAMPIRE BASEBALL! I also found it funny that it made sex a much greater sin than murder.

It was painful to watch.. As my friend ( strangely a very adjucated and a clever one) recommended me to watch it, I gave it a try... But seriously, how can anybody say that this movie is great? I won't disagree, Robert is gorgeous, but his actor skills in the movie were awful... Maybe it was due to the fact that the plot was awfully bad, dunno.. Concerning the sequel - thank you but NO, thank you...

OK so it took me a while to actually see this, and even though I knew I'd like it I wasn't in a rush to go and see it. Now that I have it doesn't matter. Anywho, it was great. Probably not as outstanding as some make it out to be but still a very impressive film. It actually starts off very slow and doesn't kick into gear until the last half an hour. Props to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattison because they do a great job as Bella and Edward. Overall well worth watching.

All around awful. The acting is stiff and unconvincing. The story itself is bad. The attraction between the two characters isn't really clear. I CAN'T READ UR MIND SO I LOEV U. U R LIEK A VAMPYR SPIDERMAN SO I LOEV U. k. In the end it's just an insipid teenie story about two losers. And you can tell the film is made by a chick because the ending climactic fight scene takes 10 seconds.

Surely the books reveal a depth of character&insight that make them far surperior2 this lukewarm vampire flick that at times edges on parody(Hi, Vamp family!) Oh the stares&longing glances!4ever on simmer, it's a lethally dull build-up 2 discovering that Edward's a vampire! (Is Bella the ONLY girl who needs to google all these hints-and-a-half 2 figure this out?). Efx aren't special& for1 second when the vampires face off u hope 4 real conflict, but alas, tis but mostly more simmering, my love!

I'm sorry, but I just don't get the hype. It's a Milles and Boone romance story with a vampire in it. And terrible dialogue. It does score points, however, with its amazing cinematography and luscious, vivid scenery. As I haven't read the books, I must also acknowledge that if the sequels are superior, this film may have a lot of "pilot"-like charm to admire about it in retrospect

points for a good soundtrack (at least until the credits--screw linkin park and paramore.) points for the retardedness of vampires playing baseball, and the people flying around on obvious wires, on second thought--was this movie actually supposed to be serious? anyway crappy vampire flick, awesome romance for fourteen year old girls, did i mention im twenty-something and male?

I don't recommend seeing this movie unless you have the RiffTrax for it. It was the only way I could stomach it - some hilarious stuff... Really, really excellent comedy movie. Bad in any other genre. What the Summary should say is "A teenage girl risks everything when she falls head over heels for a wannabe vampire who sparkles and is somehow sexy despite looking like he's been hit in the face with the entire ugly tree, several million times. Not to mention the creepy faces he makes. Yeah."

Putting the romance back into vampire. This may hold up & become a cult film in the future.

Had to watch this movie more than one time to find out how good it actually is. Of course, some things seem not to be so professional but I see behind that and love the movie.

I reluctantly checked this out from the library where I work, and now I have a very difficult time not laughing in the faces of the sad women who ask for the book sequels, especially the old ladies. Will this vampire nonsense ever end?

The phenomenon known as Twilight has been sweeping the nation, but it isnt even that good of a film. Rob and Kristen give over zealous performances, while Taylor Lautner does show some sings of being a potentially good actor. Other then that pass on Twilight, there is no logic in the story, and it is an overrated romance.

"""especial effects"""" SUCKS SO HARD! The Camera work and the photograph was far better than I expected. The plot is what it is: teenager bullshit. I was expecting a catastrophic disaster of epic magnitude, instead of that, I found a film not that bad, but far away from a good one.

The only thing that spares this movie from a 0 was the unfortunate fact that the crew had to suffer through filming this even more than audiences had to suffer through viewing this.

There are about two or three moments which could, in another movie with another stars, be pretty good. Apart from those, it's an excrutiating experience which should be avoided. Unless you're a horny teenage girl, of course, but in that case, I feel sorry for your terrible taste at men. Pattionson and Stewart are THE. WORST. COUPLE. EVER. And the camera was god awful since the first minute. With that said, I have to thank the movie for introducing me to Paramore.

You NEED to read the book to enjoy this movie, if not then you will notice the total lack of character introduction, staring, sparkling (WTF), poor plot, laughable (literally) dialogue, poor acting and poor effects. Its only (slight) redeeming factor is that Kristen Stewart is vaguely hot, and I think I only started thinking that because I couldn't leave midway through the film and was trying to find something to like. Only go if you have read the book are already in love with Edward (Pattinson)

Hardwicke had to do three things to make this movie work: communicate the teenage angst, execute some decent vampire action, and make sparkling vampires less ridiculous than they sound. On the first point, she excels, but I've already seen "Thirteen." Her utter failure on the last two points is visible to all but the biggest franchise fans.

Wooden performances, laughable dialogue, your generic girl loves boy story and the most random baseball game you'll ever witness. The "villains" were introduced and presented terribly. It was hard to take serious and it just never peaks. Painful to watch and with the lame conflicts, its just "omg how good looking is Edward?" Seriously avoid this like the fucking plague.

I wouldn't watch this film. It's a highschool/vampire/romance. But it's really surprisingly good, something of a "10 Thing I hate about you"/"Underworld"/"Walk to Remember" with a little "Interview with the Vampire."

Not as bad as everybody says it is; there are definitely isolated scenes that salvage the bad writing and nearly-as-bad acting.

All I could think about was: "wtf, a shining vampire"

Gothic, lukewarm and sexual vampiric crapfest fair for little teenage girls and fat chicks. I have never seen a movie this overrated in a long time. It's destined to become the next Titanic in the box office.
